Straightforward dog grooming Brisbane dog owners stick with
If you’re searching for dog grooming Brisbane Northside, Barkley Park offers grooming that’s organised, thoughtful, and refreshingly low-drama.
We’re based in Kedron and work with dogs from across North Brisbane, providing dog grooming North Brisbane owners choose because they want things done properly – not rushed, not overhyped, and not made harder than they need to be.
We don’t claim every dog loves grooming.
We do make sure every dog is handled well.

A considered dog grooming service
Dogs aren’t identical – and grooming shouldn’t be either.
Before our dog groomers start, we look at your dog's coat condition, skin, behaviour, and how your dog handles being groomed. From there, we tailor the session to suit your dog's comfort – not a preset routine.
That might mean:
- Taking a bit more time
- Keeping things simple
- Allowing breaks
- Adjusting how we handle certain areas
If you’re unsure what your dog needs, we’ll explain it clearly and help you decide for the very best outcome.
Why Barkley Park for grooming
Our dog groomers are trained, experienced, and paying attention. They understand coat care, dog behaviour, and the difference between a productive session and one that’s had enough.
Our grooming space is set up to keep noise and movement under control. Bathing and drying happen separately, which helps keep the environment steady and manageable.
We’ll tell you what we’re doing, what we notice, and what might help between visits. No scripts, no upsell – just clear, practical advice for your dog's specific needs.
We take pride in doing good work and letting it speak for itself.

What happens during a grooming appointment
Each grooming appointment starts with a quick check-in so we’re aligned before we begin.
Depending on the service booked, your dog’s groom may include:
- A bath with dog-safe products
- Blow drying at a pace your dog tolerates
- Brushing to keep the coat in good shape
- Nail trimming and paw care
- Ear cleaning and hygiene checks
- A tidy-up or full groom suited to the coat type
- De-shedding or hand stripping, where appropriate
The end product is a clean, comfortable dog who hasn’t had a rough time getting there.

FAQs – Everything You Need to Know About Our Dog Grooming Services
A teddy bear face refers to a soft, rounded finish around the head and muzzle — fuller than the body length and shaped into that classic fluffy "oodle" look. It's our most popular face style and suits most doodle breeds beautifully. If you'd like something slightly different, just let us know at drop-off.
Quite a few! Some owners prefer the face and body clipped to the same length for a neater finish, others like a shorter muzzle for a traditional poodle look, and some prefer a longer, more natural terrier-style face. If you have something specific in mind, feel free to bring a photo — we'll do our best to match it.
Our Full Groom (Barkley Bliss) includes a warm bath, blow-dry, full body clip at a shorter length (blade #3 and above), teddy bear face, nail clip and file, ear clean and trim, and a spritz of perfume. Our Deluxe Groom (Barktastic) is for dogs with longer coats and includes everything in the Full Groom plus additional scissor work for shaping the legs, body, and face at any length. The extra time and precision involved is why Deluxe Grooms are priced higher.
Services like de-shedding vary a lot depending on breed and coat type. A Labrador might take under an hour, while a dog with a heavy double coat like a Samoyed could take several. Charging hourly means you only pay for the time your dog actually needs. Our groomers can give you a rough estimate at drop-off, and if you have a budget in mind, just let us know and we can work within it.
Additional charges may apply if your dog's coat is significantly matted or knotted, as this takes extra time and places more wear on our equipment. We'll always let you know before we proceed with any additional work — no surprises.
When a coat is heavily matted, the mats pull tightly against the skin and can trap moisture, dirt, and bacteria — which can lead to irritation or infection. Brushing through severe matting is uncomfortable and sometimes painful for your dog, so shaving is often the kindest option. It lets us remove the mats quickly and comfortably, and once the coat grows back, a regular grooming and brushing routine will help prevent it from happening again. We're always happy to chat about the best home-care routine for your dog's coat type.
Every now and then a dog reaches their limit — they become too stressed, anxious, or unsettled to continue safely. When this happens, we stop. Pushing a dog past their threshold isn't something we're willing to do, regardless of how much of the groom is left. We'll always let you know what happened and can discuss the best approach for next time, whether that's a shorter session, a different service type, or some desensitisation work beforehand.
Grooming times can vary depending on your dog's coat, temperament, and the service booked. Rather than have you waiting around, we'll send you a message as soon as your dog is ready so you can time your arrival perfectly. It also means your dog isn't sitting waiting in the salon any longer than they need to be.
