Dog training Brisbane: real results from  trainers who get it

Does your pup pull on the lead, bark non-stop, refuse to listen, launch themselves at every person who walks through the door, or just need some puppy training? You're not the only one, and you're not out of options.

At Barkley Park, we offer professional family dog training in North Brisbane with a calm, practical approach that works. Every dog is different, so every training plan is built around yours, their quirks, their challenges, and their goals.

Based in Kedron and proudly serving dog training for Brisbane Northside clients and surrounding suburbs, we're here to help you and your dog build the kind of communication that sticks, at home, on walks, and everywhere in between.

How our dog training process works

Getting started is straightforward. Here's what to expect:

Female dog trainer standing over a golden retriever performing a 'stand between legs' trick in front of a training banner.
Golden Retriever dog running towards the camera across a grassy area with a female trainer standing behind it.
Golden Retriever dog on a yellow leash being walked by a female trainer in a black uniform outside a building.

1. Get in touch

Reach out by phone or email, and we'll send you a short questionnaire to understand your dog's needs and training goals.

2. Initial assessment

Your dog receives a personalised one-on-one assessment with our expert trainers.

  • For daycare dogs: the assessment happens during their regular daycare day.
  • For non-daycare dogs: You can still work one-on-one with our fabulous trainer, we'll just organise a suitable time for a standalone assessment

3. Customised training plan

Based on the assessment, we'll build a training program that targets your dog's specific challenges. Whether that's reactivity, recall, leash manners, or general dog obedience classes, we'll help them succeed.

4. One-on-one sessions

If your dog is in our daycare, then from the first training session, we are underway, with detailed progress updates, photos, and videos after every session. If it’s a standalone training session, our trainer personally trains you to then be able to train your dog.

What you’ll get

Convenient scheduling
Training sessions run during daycare hours, so there's no need for extra trips. If your dog doesn't attend daycare, we'll work around a time that suits you. Daycare dogs are asked to commit to a set weekly day so we can plan sessions in advance.
One-on-one training sessions
Each session runs for one hour and is completely tailored to your dog. Sessions are $90 each and include structured work, breaks for play, and plenty of positive reinforcement. No other dogs, no group classes, no one-size-fits-all approach, just focused, personalised and professional training that gets results.
$90 per session
A final session you can attend
For daycare dogs, we invite you to attend the final session. It's a chance to see everything your dog learned, ask question, and feel confident taking those skills and a well behaved dog home. To make this work, we recommend booking all sessions upfront so we can plan ahead.
Transparent progress updates after every session
After each session for our daycare dogs, you'll receive a detailed update with photos and videos, plus practical training tips to keep reinforcing home dog training. You'll always know exactly what your dog is working on and why.

Frequently asked questions

What types of behaviours can you help with?

Patrick works with a wide range of challenges, including leash pulling, excessive barking, jumping, reactivity, recall, and general dog obedience training in Brisbane. If you’re unsure whether training can help with your dog’s specific issues, reach out. We’re happy to talk it through before you book. If we feel we may not be the right fit for training your dog, we’ll be open and transparent about it, and will recommend other options that may be better suited.

Does my dog need to attend daycare to access training?

No. Training is open to all dogs, not just those enrolled in our daycare program. If your dog doesn’t attend daycare, we will organise a suitable time for the initial assessment and subsequent sessions.

How many sessions will my dog need?

It depends on your dog and their specific challenges. After the initial assessment, we will recommend a training schedule tailored to what your dog needs. We’re always upfront about expectations, no vague commitments, no unnecessary upselling.

Can I be involved in the training sessions?

For one-on-one training sessions outside of daycare, you absolutely can attend each session.

For daycare dogs, you’re welcome and encouraged to attend the final session. This gives you the chance to see your dog in action, ask questions, and leave feeling confident about continuing the work at your own home. For our daycare dogs, we train during the daycare session, and will send you detailed videos demonstrating what to do at home. You’ll also be able to contact the trainer at any time with any questions that may pop up.

Training plans are built specifically around each dog’s needs, challenges, and temperament, which tends to produce more consistent and lasting results.
